Are there feeding demonstrations or animal performances at the aquarium? What are the specific times?
A

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium does not arrange animal performances. We showcase the living habits of aquatic creatures with feeding displays at five fixed viewing spots.

Feeding schedules are as follows:

Cold Water Zone, 2F – Spotted Seals: 09:45–09:55, 14:15–14:25

Polar Zone, 2F – Penguins: 10:00–10:15, 14:30–14:45

Deep Sea Zone, B2 – Open Ocean: 10:50–11:00, 15:20–15:30

Deep Sea Zone, B2 – Silver Swirl School of Fish: 10:50–11:00, 15:20–15:30

Deep Sea Zone, B2 – Shark Cove: 10:50–11:10, 15:20–15:40

* Feeding times may be temporarily adjusted due to aquatic animals’ natural habits or other special circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.

Does the touch pool in the Ocean Classroom operate on fixed hours? What marine life can visitors touch?
A
The touch pool in the Ocean Classroom opens daily from 09:00 to 16:00. During summer vacation (July to August), its opening hours are extended to 09:00–18:00. Visitors may interact with small sharks, starfish and other marine organisms, and must follow all instructions given by on-site staff.

Are there exclusive experience programs such as aquarium overnight stays and behind-the-scenes tours? How can I make reservations?

We offer featured educational programs including Aquarium Overnight Stay and DIDI Science Classroom. Advance booking is required for overnight stays and science courses through our official website and official WeChat Official Account.

We recommend reserving 1.5 to 2 hours for a complete tour.

What are the popular photo spots inside the aquarium? Are there any photography guidelines?
A
Highly recommended photo spots include koi fish in the China Exhibit, underwater elevator in the Australia Exhibit, spotted seals in the Cold Water Zone, jellyfish displays in the Deep Sea Zone, the Silver Swirl fish school and Shark Cove within the 155-meter underwater tunnel. Flash photography is prohibited, as bright flashes may frighten marine creatures.
